What Boot Camp Covers (UPDATED MAY 2026)

Who is Boot Camp For?

Lee’s Boot Camp is for all dog owners who love their dog and want to give them the best life possible. That means more than just teaching commands—it means building a useful, functional relationship based on trust, control, and reliability. A dog with a calm demeanor. A dog that waits patiently instead of rushing guests. A dog that stays close instead of running off. A dog that can be trusted around people instead of creating stress or chaos. In short: a dog that makes life better, not harder. That’s the kind of relationship real training is meant to create.

Primary focus of Lee’s Program is to help you have a dog who “just listens” when it matters.

1. Amazing behavior: Dogs should be humble and respectful towards people and animals.

2. Incredible obedience: Dogs should listen even when they don’t want to.

3. Off leash trust: A dog who doesn’t run away when loose is a safer, happier dog.

My training techniques *should* be used by everyone. Even if your dog is “pretty good”. I understand only a percentage of people who shop around for dog training are going to pick me – it’s just a numbers game. And truthfully – I don’t want to work with everyone. I only want to work with people who want to learn how to have real control over their dog.

So the real question is – do you want to learn how to have an amazing dog?

“I’m desperate, can Lee help me?”

In all cases, the answer is yes. It works on literally every dog. It’s as reliable as the law of gravity. You’d be pretty shocked if you dropped an apple and it *floated*. This is how shocked I would be if I couldn’t train your dog.

Not because of tricks or shortcuts — but because this program teaches owners how to create a respectful dog who obeys all of your rules.

While I frequently help people who’s “pretty good” dog turned out of control – I also work with people to help prevent this from happening. Just because you’ve loved a dog since they were a puppy and they’ve never had any “trauma” in their life – doesn’t mean they won’t become aggressive or out of control. In fact – this is often exactly how it starts.

Don’t fall for “basic” training – save your money!

If you’re thinking, “My dog doesn’t need advanced – intensive training. I just want my dog to listen, sit, stay, come, and behave.” — this is for you.

Because here’s the truth: what you’re describing is not basic training. In fact – getting a dog to “just listen” is about as advanced as it gets.

There’s a huge difference between a dog that knows commands and a dog that actually listens. Teaching a dog to sit or down is easy. Almost anyone can do that. But getting a dog to obey when distracted, excited, or tempted? That’s the hard part. That’s real training.

That’s where the dog training industry misleads people. They call it “basic” because the commands are simple in concept. But reliability, control, and accountability are not basic at all. In fact, most trainers have to hand pick the easiest dogs they can find and spend months or even years trying to create what people casually call a “well-trained dog.” and they still fail regularly – especially with “difficult” dogs. This failure is not a reflection of them being a poor trainer – this is a reflection of the poor methodology they’re using.

And if you’ve tried training your dog yourself and struggled, the problem usually isn’t your effort—it’s the method. Most “basic” trainers use food-based systems, which means you’re often paying someone to do something you could do yourself: hand out treats and repeat commands. There’s no hidden magic there. Just more time.

The problem is that food creates transactions, not obedience. If your dog listens only because food is involved, that’s not real control—it’s negotiation. And the moment your dog decides something else is more rewarding, the training falls apart.

That’s why so-called “basic training” is often the biggest waste of time, money, and energy. Not because your dog can’t learn—but because the method was weak from the start.

What “methods/tools” does Lee use?

I don’t use the two primary methods being pushed by 99% of all dog trainers. I don’t use treats and I don’t teach to be the “dominant/alpha” member of the pack.

I find it similar to raising children – I’m the leader – but I’m not trying to dominate my children. The primary method is to create a respectful dog who listens and behaves. Much like you teach a child to say please and thank you, clean their room, and treat people with dignity and respect, this is the same process I strive to achieve with dogs. In order to accomplish this, I do use a fair system of praise and discipline. I primarily use a pinch collar and/or an electronic collar to help me apply fair consequences for specific actions and behavior. When used properly – these tools create a wonderful human+canine relationship.

Let me be clear – I do not “hit” or “kick” dogs. Techniques that involve excessive force are not welcome in my philosophy. Besides – there’s no need to hit or kick a dog – you can make 100% of your corrections with a simple collar and leash.

Wait… No treats?! How do I reward a dog… the reward for being a good dog is praise, affection, and more freedom. A better dog is going to receive inherently more attention and be included in more situations than they would otherwise. Imagine all the fun things you could do with a dog who is well behaved and listens to you.

Commands Included

Yes, your dog is taught all core obedience commands, including:

  • Sit

  • Down

  • Stay

  • Come

  • Heel

  • Place / Relax

  • Off

  • Quiet

  • Back

But commands are just one expression of control.

The real goal is a dog that:

  • Listens the first time

  • Responds under distraction

  • Respects boundaries

  • Behaves appropriately in real life

Behavioral Issues

Because the Boot Camp installs structure, clarity, and accountability, it can address nearly any behavior that affects daily life, including:

  • Jumping, pulling, and ignoring commands

  • Reactivity and aggression toward dogs or people

  • Overexcitement and poor impulse control

  • Barking, whining, and demand behaviors

  • Anxiety, nervousness, or inconsistent behavior

  • Door bolting and boundary problems

If it’s something you live with every day, it belongs in the program.

What Does the Training Cover?

Once all the pieces are in place, the answer is simple:

I’m teaching you how to have a “perfect dog.”

Because this program addresses the entire system — the dog, the owner, and the follow-through — it isn’t limited to a narrow list of commands or problems. The goal is to give you the ability to create a dog who is elite in both behavior and obedience.

To give you an idea of what’s possible, I’ve helped owners turn dogs who were considered dangerous and scheduled for euthanasia into calm, reliable companions. In some cases, just a few months later those same dogs were performing at a service-dog level.

But it’s important to set realistic expectations, so let’s put things into perspective.

In many cases I’m helping people achieve service-dog level obedience and behavior — often with dogs that already have serious behavioral problems.

So consider the following:

1. How long does it take to train a service dog?
Most professional programs take at least a year.

2. How much do service dog programs cost?
Typically $10,000 to $75,000+.

3. Are those programs guaranteed?
No. Dogs fail regularly because they must have a very specific natural disposition.

4. How much training does the owner receive?
Extensive training is required, often including weeks of hands-on work and public access training.

And even after all of that, if the handler loses control of the dog in public, the team can still be removed from stores or denied access.

So if you’re looking for a “fully trained” dog, take a moment to consider what you’re actually asking for.

Most programs struggle to achieve that level of reliability even with a year of training and tens of thousands of dollars.

Yet many people expect a trainer to fix serious behavioral problems and create perfect obedience for $500.

Even $5,000 would be a bargain compared to what these results typically cost.

In fact, some of my clients previously spent tens of thousands of dollars with other trainers across state lines, only to walk away disappointed.

My goal has been to design a program where you can achieve this level of control — even with difficult or “crazy” dogs — without spending $75,000.

That’s why I built this program to help you do it for just $2,500.

Is $2,500 a lot of money?
Yes.

But is it expensive for what you’re getting?

Not even close.

When you compare it to what similar results usually cost, it’s actually an incredible value.

That’s just my honest opinion.

The Training Process

Step 1: Intensive Board and Train (7 days)

Your dog stays with me and receives consistent, structured, hands-on training every day. This creates clarity, momentum, and progress. I get to know your dog and give you more specific feedback on what you need to do to speed up the results at home. The only thing I recommend brining for boot camp is dog food (and your dog). Anything else is a liability.

What does a typical day look like?

A typical day looks a lot like a typical off day for you and your dog. I wake up and feed the dogs, let them outside to use the bathroom, and then start spending time with them. As I spend time with them, I’m teaching them how to behave and listen to me using my system that I’m going to teach you. I raise dogs a lot like I raise my children. I don’t set aside an hour to teach my kids how to share toys. As they play with their toys, I teach them to share. I don’t set aside an hour to teach my kids how to look people in the eyes and say “thank you”. I teach them this as it happens. Training a dog is very similar. It doesn’t require “drills” to teach your dog what to do. You can simply teach them what to do as it happens. Having said that, I often do set aside time for dogs to learn basic commands like sit, down, stay, etc., but the point is that this is not required. As I navigate my day, I’m just teaching your dog as I go. And this is the very process I want you to take. It’s more powerful than drills and it provides practical, long-lasting results.

Are there other dogs?

Yes. I generally will have at least 4 other dogs that I’m working with at any given time. But this actually has nothing to do with your dog’s results. Whether I have zero dogs or fifty – you’re learning how to raise your dog the way that I do.

Do you have employees?

No. It’s just me, my wife, and my four children. Sometimes my wife and kids will be involved in the hands on training process. It just depends on how easy or serious a case may be. Most of the time, the dogs I help are too difficult for them to handle right away, so they get very excited when we get an “easy” dog that they can handle and work with right away. For the difficult cases, I often use my wife and kids to add distractions so that we can test a dog’s responsiveness level.

Step 2: Owner Education Through the App

While your dog is training, you are learning.

Every Boot Camp client receives access to my training app “Dogtor Lee” which includes:

  • Step-by-step educational videos

  • Concept-based lessons that explain how control actually works

  • Clear guidance on what to do — and what not to do — at home

A trained dog without an educated owner is temporary success. This part is non-negotiable.

3. Hands-On Session at Pickup

Training doesn’t end when your dog goes home.

At pickup, you work directly with me and your dog to practice:

  • Skills and handling

  • Follow-through and accountability

  • How to maintain structure in real life

This is where understanding turns into confidence.

4. Follow-Up & At-Home Implementation

The final ingredient is what happens after the Boot Camp.

You’re not sent home guessing. You have:

  • Clear direction

  • Ongoing support

  • Continued access to the training material

This ensures results stick instead of fading.

For Every Dog. For Every Owner.

The Boot Camp is designed for:

  • All breeds

  • All sizes

  • All ages (with reasonable expectations)

  • *Family dogs, working dogs, rescues, and high-drive dogs

This program isn’t breed-specific or problem-specific.

It’s principle-based — and that’s why it works across the board.

Because once you understand the principles that govern behavior, you’re no longer guessing. You’re applying a system that works regardless of the dog in front of you.

That’s also why many people with “easy dogs” assume they don’t need my program. They often think the program is too expensive for what they’re dealing with.

But here’s the truth:

My program just works.

In fact, it’s so effective that I can’t even help you produce “basic” results.

The system is designed to create exceptional levels of obedience and behavior, not the bare minimum.

Even my most basic program ends up producing results that are far more advanced than what most training programs offer.

So while many owners come to me with serious behavioral issues, the same system works just as powerfully for people who simply want a dog that behaves far better than average.

Because once the right system is in place, the results aren’t just good…

They’re remarkable.

See the Transformations

It’s one thing for me to explain how powerful my methods are.

It’s another thing to see it.

You’ll see dogs that were barking, pulling, ignoring commands, or even showing aggression become calm, obedient, and responsive.

You don’t have to imagine what the results look like.

You can see them for yourself.

And once you do, it becomes very clear what this program can accomplish.

Once you see the transformations, the question usually isn’t “Does this work?”

The question becomes:

“When can I start?”
