What method does Lee use?

The question behind the question, answered.

One of the most common questions I get is, “What method do you use?”

Usually what people mean is:

  • Do you use treats?
  • Are you a “positive only” trainer?
  • Do you use “dominance” or “alpha” methods?
  • Are you balanced?
  • Are you force-free?

But what they’re really asking is: are you going to hurt my dog?

Absolutely not.

I don’t condone abuse or neglect of any kind. My whole job is helping people live happier lives with their dogs.

If I’d been out there hurting dogs all these years, I wouldn’t have so many happy clients and so many dogs living better lives. I make it clear in every video and with every client: abuse and neglect are never acceptable.

What I do instead

My approach is closer to parenting than to “dog training”: clear rules, consistency, and fair rewards and consequences. No treats, no guessing. You can read more in 10 training techniques that fail.

Aren’t you tired of guessing?

Most people come to me after they’ve already tried. Social media, a local trainer, a class. It didn’t work.

Honestly, they were experimenting. With me, you don’t have to guess. You’ll know what works, why it works, and you’ll see the proof. You’ll finally get to say, “This is working.”

Is my dog a good fit?

Yes. Tell me about your dog.
