Proven Results Without Treats (or being mean)

How Lee's Dog Training's Perfect Dog Boot Camp Works

“Dogs are free-thinking, sentient beings. You can’t simply condition or compel them to obey—they must choose to listen. Earning their respect is key to controlling their behavior. Whether it’s basic obedience or serious behavioral issues, my multi-stage, in-depth training program is designed to teach dog owners exactly how to do that.”

How Lee's 5-Stage Training Program Works

Lee’s program is a multi-stage process that guides you and your dog to develop a long lasting, respectful relationship. If you’ve correctly followed Lee’s system – training will be second nature and not feel like work – at all. You and your dog will be happy – and you’ll get compliments from all your friends and family!

Stage 1: Board and Train

You’ll drop off your dog to live with Lee for 7 days. This short period of intensive training is critical – and comparable to why an addict goes to rehab. It’s important that your dog live with someone who knows exactly what to do. No guess work, no learning curve. This stage is critical so that Lee gets to know your dog and be able to give you valuable feedback on what to expect. Lee also will go through each drill with you dog to ensure they fully understand what’s expected of them and get them accustomed to the different training materials being used. You’ll be able to see a significant difference in your dog’s disposition, energy, and focus level.

Stage 2: Owner Education

While your dog is learning with Lee, you also have learning to do. Lee provides a wealth of study materials using an online training platform with videos and emails. Specifically, you’ll be learning how to execute Lee’s 10 step training protocol when you get home. While you’re not expected to “self-educate”, the training videos and emails are a requirement and an extremely important part of the process. Lee’s role in training is to help facilitate your understanding of the material and guide you through the steps you may be missing or misunderstanding.

Step 3: Hands-On Dog Owner Training

When you come to pick up your dog, you will spend valuable time with Lee getting questions answered and ensuring your hands-on skills look great. It’s important that you understand what to look for when you go for a walk, how to handle praise and discipline, and get specific feedback on mistakes being made. The general time frame for this session is around 90 minutes – but there isn’t a set limit – Lee wants you to stay until you feel comfortable knowing what to do when you get home. It’s important that anyone who’s going to be interacting with your dog on a day to day basis come to participate in training – otherwise they will miss out on valuable instruction and training may become more difficult for them than for you. It’s highly recommended to schedule at least two additional follow up sessions with Lee to ensure that your skills look great and you’re handling situations properly. The best time to schedule these varies depending on your situation and can be discussed in person with Lee. These two additional sessions are included in the cost of your training program.

Stage 4: Integrating Training at Home

At this stage you should already be seeing massive gains in your dog’s obedience and general disposition. You’ll go home to continue to reinforce commands and behavior expectations. While you should be seeing incredible results right away – you’re still going to see some occasional (sometimes frequent) behavior and obedience issues. You need to continue following Lee’s training protocols (correctly) for the next 3 to 6 months. This may sound like a long time, but it goes very fast – and it doesn’t require much effort once you become truly competent. In fact, it’s often less effort and more enjoyable than what you’re currently doing, because you’ll have the knowledge and skills to implement and start gaining control of your dog again.

Stage 5: Maintenance Training

This stage is the fun stage. At the maintenance stage, you’ll be a proficient pupil of Lee’s methods and finally reaping the total benefits of the work you’ve put in with your dog. Training will be such a natural and integrate part of how you interact with your dog and life will become easy. If you do it right, you won’t even feel like you’re training. Your friends and family will be in awe and jealous of the dog you’ve created!

WARNING: Temporary Reactions and Complications

There are an infinite number of ways dogs may react to training. Every dog is different, and I cannot possibly list or predict every temporary behavior or physical change that might occur. What I can say with confidence is this: short-term changes are normal, and they do not reflect the long-term success of your dog’s training.
Please trust me when I say—if you notice something unusual during or after training, don’t be alarmed. These moments are often part of the process, and not a sign that anything has gone wrong. In many cases, they are actually signs that your dog is being challenged in a healthy and necessary way.
Most dogs do just fine and settle in quickly. But in some cases—especially with more stubborn, strong-willed, or entitled dogs—resistance may show up. This isn’t stress from being away from home; it’s an underlying issue being brought to the surface. And that’s exactly why they’re here.
Some examples of temporary reactions include:
Self-imposed hunger strikes
Mild diarrhea or loose stools
Temporary weight loss
Colitis or urinary tract infections
Whining, vocalizing, or restlessness
Fatigue or pushback behaviors
Temporary potty accidents
Increased clinginess or defiance at home
These reactions are not caused by mistreatment or harsh methods—they are simply the result of a dog being held accountable in a way they’ve never experienced before. In fact, these challenges often expose the very reason training is needed.
It’s also possible for some of these behaviors to appear once your dog returns home. That doesn’t mean the training didn’t work—it means your dog is trying to figure out if the rules still apply. Your job is to confidently reinforce what they’ve learned and show them that the structure continues at home.
In the end, these bumps in the road are just that—temporary. They do not define your dog’s success. Stick to the process, follow my guidance, and you’ll see the transformation unfold.
