How Lee's Dog Training's Perfect Dog Boot Camp Works
“Dog training is not about a list of words your dog understands, this is about a relationship between you and your dog where you speak and they just listen and behave.” – Lee Seibold
How The Training Process Works
Step 1. Sign Up
It’s an important step to pick a training date. You want to select dates that makes sense for. you schedule but also allows for everyone in the household to be present for our hands on session at the end of the stay and train process. Contact Lee if you have special circumstances and he can try to accommodate.
Step 2. Stay and Train
(a.k.a. Board and Train)
You’ll drop off your dog to live with Lee for 7 days. This period of intensive training is critical – and comparable to why an addict goes to rehab. It’s important that your dog live with someone who knows exactly what to do. No guess work, no learning curve. If for some reason Lee feels your dog would greatly benefit from more than 7 days – he will reach out to you – and there is no additional charge.
Step 3. Owner Education
While your dog is learning with Lee, you also have learning to do. Lee provides a wealth of study materials using an online training platform with videos and emails. Specifically, you’ll be learning how to execute Lee’s 10 step training protocol when you get home. While you’re not expected to completely self-educate, the more you study the fundamental material, the more you and Lee can focus on specific questions about your dog.
Step 4: Pick Up
When you come to pick up your dog, you will spend valuable time with Lee getting questions answered and ensuring your skills look great. The general time frame for this session is around 90 minutes – but there isn’t a set limit – Lee wants you to stay until you feel comfortable knowing what to do when you get home. It’s important that anyone who’s going to be interacting with your dog on a day to day basis come to participate in training – otherwise they will miss out on valuable instruction and training may become more difficult for them than for you.
Step 5: Train at Home
At this stage you should already be seeing massive gains in your dog’s general disposition. At this point, you’ll go home to continue to reinforce commands and behavior expectations. While you should be seeing incredible results right away – you’ll want to continue following Lee’s 10 step training protocol for the next 6 months. This may sound like a long time, but it goes very fast – and it doesn’t require much effort once you get the hang of it. In fact, it’s far less effort than you currently exert, because your dog will be better and more enjoyable to be around.
Step 6: Maintenance
As you work at home, you will inevitably have questions. Although Lee’s program does a robust job of teaching you – let’s face it – this probably isn’t your full time job. Maintenance sessions can be done over text messages, phone calls, or even additional in person sessions. At any point after training if you want to schedule another time to meet with Lee and fine tune your skills – it is highly encouraged to do so! This service is included in your boot camp pricing – meaning you don’t pay any additional money for these maintenance sessions.
FAQs About Training
How much time do I need to train my dog after your 7 day board and train?
If you’re using my techniques, you do not need a lot of time to train a dog. My program is not about “time” but it’s about “respect”. Every person in the world has enough time to train a dog (if they want one). I teach you how to live with your dog and incorporate training into your day to day life, so that you’re not spending any additional time training than you would just living with your dog as usual. In fact, this is also why my training is more enjoyable and easier to sustain in the long run.
Do you only work with tough dogs?
While I do work with a lot of struggling dog owners with tough dogs, my program is designed for all dogs. I teach dog owners how to have full off leash control and perfect behavior! If your dog isn’t “bad” then you will have even better, faster, and easier results to maintain!
Ask yourself – If Lee’s program can take a “tough” dog and get off leash control and great behavior in just one week, imgaine how great your “pretty good” dog can be!
Have you ever had a dog who can't be trained?
Nope! Even the dogs with serious medical conditions attributing to grumpiness, lack of focus, or otherwise adverse behavior – those dogs saw dramatic changes that the owners could use to enhance their relationship with their dog. If you have concerns about your dog being difficult – don’t worry – even the worst cases in the world are no match for Lee’s system – just watch some of Lee’s transformational videos for proof.
How old does my dog have to be for training?
Any age! If your dog can interact with their environment – it’s time!
Do you offer a guarantee?
Dog training is about the relationship between you and your dog. Dogs are sentient beings who are capable of making their own independent decisions. You have to learn how to gain control of your dog by following my 10 step system. I can guarantee if you follow my system correctly – you will be beyond thrilled with the results. But since there is so much accountability on your end – if you aren’t able or willing to follow my system – I can’t guarantee it will work for you.
When should I begin training with my dog?
As soon as possible! The sooner you can establish a clear understanding that you’re the leader – the easier and less time consuming training and maintenance becomes.
Do you work with all dog breeds?
Yes. I’ve never turned away a dog owner due to their dog’s breed. Any breed is capable of the same great results as any other.
Will training change my dog's personality?
Not at all. In fact, it’s impossible to do so. Read this article to learn more.
Is boarding traumatizing for dogs?
Not at all! But if for some reason your dog did have an adverse reaction being away from home and being taught to be a good dog and listen – this is exactly why you need help! Lee doesn’t change the way his program works because of an adverse reaction – you have to trust Lee – his program is still the best way to go in these cases. Why should I hire you?
If you take the time to review my site and you want the results you see in my videos and my clients testimonials boast, then hire me. I’m not out here to try to convince you to work with me. I’m offering a solution to whatever you need.
How much is training?
I’m not just offering you an hourly rate. I’m offering you solutions, results, and in a fraction of the time of other programs. I am often told my pricing is actually lower than it should be – because you’re getting world class results. Click here to see pricing information.
What if my dog has separation anxiety?
If your dog has a problem being left alone, or being away from you, have no fear – I will address that! My program steps remain unchanged despite your dog’s inability to remain relaxed. In fact – the very reason your dog has this problem is exactly why you should go through with training!
What if my dog is aggressive?
Depending on the severity of the aggression, this will determine if your dog needs more training time with me. Even in some of the worst cases, one week is all that is needed. However, if I feel your dog would greatly benefit – I’ll make a recommendation on how much longer we need. And remember, I don’t charge for this. It doesn’t happen all that often.
Do you teach the owner what to do?
Yes! Online training materials and private training is included in my program. So you can have faith that you will know exactly what you need to do to maintain training steps.
Do you have a waitlist?
I recommend signing up for the next available date for you on my site and if for some reason you want to take the next available training cancellation, let me know and I will contact you if someone cancels their reservation.
Does Lee have any certifications?
I have a formal service dog training certification through The DogFather Academy. I also received a dual B.S. Degree in Kinesiology and Physical and Health Education, as well as a personal training certification through the American College of Sports Medicine. I even became a certified life guard through the American Red Cross. So it’s safe to say you’re not dealing with someone who just started a dog training business just because they love dogs. While I do love dogs, I became a dog trainer because people needed my help when other trainers fail. My unique perspective, college education, and personal experience have molded me into a world class canine behaviorist.
What if training doesn't work for me?
If you follow my steps, I can guarantee it will work for you! In some cases, it might be difficult, and you just have to trust me that it will work as soon as I help you understand what you need to understand. I also offer unlimited support after training and as long as you are still treating me with respect, I will be in this with you until it’s fixed.
What is the best way to contact you?
An intial text to 260-238-8675 is the best place to start. You can also call me at that number day or night.
Do you require vaccinations?
I require a rabies vaccination to begin training, but other vaccinations are optional. If your dog is too young or unable to be seen by a veternarian, this vaccine requirement may be waived.
What if I don't want to board my dog? Can you amend your program to fit my needs?
Think of it this way: if someone struggling with addiction tries to get sober “their way,” they often fail. Imagine an addict trying to dictate the kind of program they think they need—it doesn’t work. The cold reality is that an addict doesn’t know how to get sober, and even if they did, they couldn’t hold themselves accountable to make it happen. The same applies to dog owners—no offense. Let me guide you the way you need to be guided, not the way you want to be guided.
What do I need to bring for Training?
I recommned bringing food for training. I do not recommmend bringing items like favorite blankets or toys that are irreplaceable.
Do you offer discounts for multiple dogs?
In most cases, additional dogs are 50% off. I don’t even mind if you refer a friend who wants to send their dog at the same time and split the cost.
There are some exceptions depending on the difficulty of the situation. Please contact Lee if you have questions about discounts.
